Frequently Asked Questions

What is soft tissue therapy?

Soft tissue therapy is essentially sports massage with a difference. It combines sports massage with other advanced soft tissue techniques to help treat muscle pain and dysfunction. It can be used to treat sports or everyday injuries.

Where can I find you?

The clinic is located in the Foundry Gym in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The entrance to the gym reception is on The Midway, opposite Keele House. If you are driving to the gym, you are best coming down Lower Street and taking the Friar’s Street exit from the roundabout, which will lead directly onto The Midway. You can find a map of our location here.

Is the treatment suitable for everyone?

Massage therapy is generally safe for most people, but it may not be advisable for some health conditions or in some circumstances. After booking, you will receive a consultation form that covers medical history to check the suitability of treatment. If you are unsure at any time if massage is suitable for you, please get in touch.

What should I wear?

Sports clothing is ideal. Please wear shorts if you would like a treatment for your legs and hips. If you would like a treatment on your back and shoulders, it is easier for ladies to wear a bra with a traditional back fastening rather than a sports bra.

What can I expect during the session?

At the first session, we will discuss any current issues or injuries and what you would like to get from the treatment. We will also cover medical history to make sure the treatment is suitable for you. A posture assessment and range of movement tests may be used to help us identify which muscles would benefit from treatment. The sports massage can then be tailored to your specific needs to treat these areas.

Is having a sports massage painful?

No, a sports massage is not meant to be painful. You may experience some discomfort as we identify and work through areas of muscle tightness and restriction. On occasion, your muscles may ache for a day or so after the session until they settle from the treatment.

How can I pay?

You can pay by cash or card. Visa, Mastercard, Google and Apple Pay are all accepted.

If you have any other questions or are unsure if the treatment is for you, please get in touch.
